C-SVV
The patented C-SVV dizziness diagnosis system for determining the “Subjective Visual Vertical” was fully developed and manufactured by CHRONOS VISION and certified for the European market. SVV measurement is considered an established examination within comprehensive differential diagnostics for neural or central dizziness.
What is "Subjective Visual Vertical"?
When asking a healthy person in darkness – without visual orientation aids – to adjust a luminous line so that, by their perception, it stands vertically to the ground like a plumb line, one obtains highly reproducible results that correspond to the real vertical in space. This result is called “Subjective Visual Vertical” and is made possible by correct information from the otolith organs (especially the utricles).

What are the application areas for C-SVV?
The C-SVV is intended for diagnosing and treating dizziness patients in ENT and neurology. Additionally, the portable device is well suited for screening purposes by occupational safety specialists.
How does a measurement work?
With the light-tight head unit worn, the patient looks at a luminous line surrounded by complete darkness. This is necessary because the patient should only use information from their otolith organs – without any visual orientation—to align the luminous line vertically. After starting a measurement, a randomly rotated luminous line appears in the headset. Using control buttons on the handheld device, the patient adjusts the line vertically and confirms with the OK button. The line position is compared to the actual tilt angle of the head and the deviation is determined. This procedure is repeated manually or via convenient series measurement three to five times for each tilt angle.
What examinations are possible?
Built-in sensors allow for examinations of the subjective visual vertical during static tilting and during unilateral centrifugation on a rotating chair.
