C-ETD

Space-Qualified Eye Tracking for Research and Diagnostics

The space-qualified version of the eye tracker was commissioned by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and developed according to NASA specifications for use aboard the International Space Station ISS. In its commercial version, the C-ETD system has been further enhanced as a research instrument.

The C-ETD Eye Tracking System consists of a head unit and a system unit. The head unit is worn by the test subject, individually adjustable, and equipped with cameras, illumination, and deflection mirrors. The system unit contains a PCI board for online image acquisition and processing, which is installed in a powerful PC.

The tracker enables extensive measurements of eye movements (three degrees of freedom) as well as optional measurement of head movements (six degrees of freedom). Thus, the C-ETD serves as a basis for various applications in research and diagnostics of the human oculomotor and vestibular systems.
